PhPr 815G - Infectious Dideases Rotation

(Also refer to the general goals and objectives for PhPr 815)

Goal
To provide the pharmacy student with an introduction to the treatment of infectious diseases.

Objectives
At the completion of this rotation, the student should be able to:


Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the student during this rotation shall include the following:

  1. Be present at the hospital Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  2. Participate in infectious disease rounds.
  3. Monitor patients, as assigned by preceptor, being followed by the infectious disease consult service.
  4. Provide drug information to the house staff and attending physicians on the infectious diseases service as requested.
  5. Provide at least one overview of a specific anti-infective and/or class of anti-infectives on infectious disease rounds as requested.
  6. Meet with preceptor regularly to review patients and anti-infective therapy.
  7. Attend microbiology rounds as conducted at the site.
  8. Attend infectious diseases clinic as available at the site.
  9. Perform other functions as assigned by preceptor.
