This position will report to the Vice President of Pharmacy Operations and is responsible for overall leadership and direction of Pharmacy Operations at our retail locations. Primary responsibility will be to achieve corporate and operation goals related to daily operations for multi-state pharmacy locations for short-term/long-term business objectives maximizing revenue gains, meeting compliance, developing staff and supporting culture. Individuals supervised will include 25+ Pharmacists/Pharmacy Directors across 15-20 location/3-5 Float Technician/Trainers. Working environment will include significant travel to existing retail locations and potential future locations, as well as providing pharmacist coverage as required. Varied hours may exceed a 40 hour work week as required.
Essential elements of the job
- Manages multi-state pharmacy operations to achieve planned operational objectives and profit goals.
- Works across Operations to establish individual store goals in the areas of sales, profit and other priorities as set by executive management.
- Builds credible and sustainable business relationships across all departments.
- Partners with sales to ensure execution of sales plans at store level.
- In conjunction with Director of Professional and Government Affairs and Director of Clinical Affairs, ensures execution of all company and regulatory standards, policies and procedures at all locations.
- Under broad supervision, oversees and supports Pharmacy Directors with all operational functions of the pharmacies at the store level, including recruiting, interviewing hiring, training, customer service, security, legal compliance and achievement of financial requirements.
- Manages and/or oversees management of technician and pharmacist time-off coverage and store staffing.
- Works with Human Resources to establish current and future staffing needs according to budgets.
- Resolves customer complaints for issues that are escalated beyond store level.
- Ensures knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, safety, policies, guidelines, operations and systems are current for staff.
- Responsible for the assessment and acquiring of training and development interventions, activities, events with subsequent performance standards, measures, reporting, and refinement
- Responsible for effective use of staff, equipment, facilities, and operation methods to gain best operation results for all sites
Job Specifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
- Arizona Pharmacy license – in good standing
- Minimum of 7 years experience in similar leadership role - retail or pharmacy environment required.
- Proven experience in providing leadership and direction across a wide range of geographic locations and staff roles.
- Demonstrated experience with financial operations at the store level.

The Pharmacokinetic Laboratory Director will provide leadership and direction within IDPL and its associated cost center(s). The Lab Director will collaborate with the Executive of Director, the Medical Director, the Heads of Mycobacteria, Respiratory Infections and Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology as well as the other lab scientific/medical director(s), faculty, clinical services administrative team, and lab staff on issues related to the management of care to ensure quality patient care, and excellent laboratory services to internal clients, referral customers and internal and external research activities and clients. Specific Responsibilities:

Ensures safety compliance and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by staff, as needed.

- Maintain effective communication with accrediting, licensing, and regulatory bodies, hospital administration, and faculty leadership.
- Coordinate the strategic and operations plans with the goals and initiatives together with the Executive Director.
- Develops “patient focused laboratory services”, including delivery systems that optimize services to achieve the desired health outcomes for patients.
- Oversees formulation of policies and procedures for the Pharmacokinetics Laboratory and other relevant issues for the institution.
- Directs and monitors all testing, quality control and improvement programs within the department; performs all laboratory testing as needed.
- Evaluates and validates new laboratory procedures and proposes changes to protocols and policies and procedures as needed.
- Prepares, in a timely manner, professional quality laboratory results, interpretations and reports for all clients.
- Ensures clinical services are performed in accordance with local, state and national regulations. Ensures compliance with major credentialing bodies including JCAHO, College of American Pathologist (CAP), CLIA, GLP, etc.
- Manages specified cost centers including personnel, capital, space and operational expenses. Prepares proposed operating and capital budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director of The Company.
- Monitors the revenue and expenses of the assigned areas: makes appropriate adjustments as necessary; prepares an annual budget and financial/revenue reports as required or requested; monitors expenses and cost reduction; and prepares short-term and long-term business plans to meet institutional goals and objectives.
- Develops, implements, and performs competencies (including age-specific competencies) as identified through the departmental competency program. Ensures care and services that recognize age-specific needs and issues for all the customers served. Implements and evaluates a systematic orientation program for new staff utilizing established department guidelines. Develops, implements, and evaluates ongoing programs for staff professional growth.
- Ensures that all procedures and tests performed by the technical staff are within the scope of education, training and experience of the individuals.
- Directs identification of potential new tests and research and development of those tests that are determined to be viable and important to The Company.
- Ensures effective utilization of institutional information systems, including training staff, monitoring quality of order/reports/charging and maximizing use of system in department operations.
- Participates in interdisciplinary, interdepartmental and departmental based performance improvement activities. Establishes and monitors all quality activities of the designated areas, including Quality Control (QC) and Performance Improvement. Prepares regular reports, involves all staff in monitoring, review and development of actions.
- Supports research projects and is active in other academic pursuits including publication of scientific papers, book chapters, journal article review, professional meeting presentations and learning on timely topics of interest, which will contribute to patient care, staff development and the mission of the center as directed by the Executive Director, The Company.
- Participates (when appropriate) with sales and marketing efforts when requested.
Qualifications
- Pharm D with postdoctoral fellowship training strongly preferred. Ph.D. with clinical training; and/or MD/ PhD with experience in pharmacokinetics will be considered.
- Prefer training in a discipline closely related to Pharmacokinetics, ideally with laboratory leadership experience in the discipline.
- Specific knowledge of and experience with pharmacokinetic laboratory assays and interpretation.
- Minimum of (5) or more years of clinical laboratory experience, including two or more years in advanced management.
- Prior experience being responsible for managing a budget and responsibility for obtaining goals and objectives.
- Experience with clinical trials research, ideally within infectious disease is considered a strong plus.

Position summary: The person in this position has primary responsibility for professional practice development for College of Pharmacy programs in Phoenix. A secondary role is supporting the experiential rotations for pharmacy students in Phoenix. Additional responsibilities include liaison with other partners in the Phoenix Biomedical Campus, including the UA Colleges of Medicine and Public Health and the ASU College of Nursing and Health Innovation.
Duties and responsibilities: The initial focus of this position will be expanding the pharmacy component of the collaborative primary care practice at the ASU College of Nursing and Health Innovation. This includes providing clinical pharmacy services at the various clinic sites, assistance in developing a proposal for marketing this service, creating sites for student rotations, and assistance in evaluating the impact of the health service. Additional duties will be determined by the Director of Experiential Education as needed to support and improve the clerkships in Phoenix. There will be assignment to Phoenix Biomedical Center committees that advance interprofessional education.
