Preceptor Development Programs

Take advantage of a number of opportunities to develop and perfect your teaching skills. Below are links to several programs that were designed specifically for preceptors.

Toolbox for Preceptors

The toolbox contains on-line workshops and "tools" that we hope you will find useful in your everyday interactions with the pharmacy students.  To access each workshop, simply click on the title and the presentation will begin immediately.  For some of the workshops, there are additional materials you may find helpful and these are listed as examples below each workshop.

Workshop 1: Syllabus and Calendar

Quick References for UA Preceptors

Check out this Preceptor Tip Sheet for ideas of how to set expectations for students, direct them to read-up on pertinent issues, and identify projects - without using too much of your own time!

Check out this Preceptor Information at a Glance for web address for EMS - the online rotation management system, and other useful information.  Feel free to download or print it to keep handy for future reference.

Programs Approved for Continuing Education Credit

Free CE Program: The Community Pharmacist Preceptor Education Program

Check out this CE Program that offers 3 CEU’s and is specific for preceptors in the community pharmacy environment.  It reviews many aspects of a community pharmacy rotation from appropriate student activities to communication skills.  There is even a sample rotation schedule that might just give you some ideas for your rotation.  If you aren’t located in a community pharmacy environment, this CE program is still worth checking out as it reviews many topics important to all types of rotations such as mentoring, characteristics of an excellent preceptor and conflict resolution.
