WE WANT YOUR BLOOD! It's time again for the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy IPSF's Annual Vampire Cup Competition. This year will be the first year we extend this blood drive competition to the newly instituted UA COP Phoenix campus! [NOTE: You do NOT have to be a College of Pharmacy student to donate blood. Only COP students will be participating in the Vampire Cup Competition, but everyone is invited to donate blood at this event!]
What is the Vampire Cup Competition? Each year, P1s - P4s compete to see which class can donate the most blood and save the most lives. The class that contributes the most will have bragging rights for the rest of the year and win a free bagel breakfast! Here is how it works:
• We host one blood drive in February and one in April in collaboration with the Red Cross
• Sign up to donate OR to volunteer during the event - for each unit of blood donated, you get one point for your class. For each hour volunteered, you get half a point for your class
• You can also recruit friends, family, and faculty to donate on your behalf
**More details about signing up are provided in the google docs, see below for links. **
• The points are tallied up after the last blood drive in April, the class with the most points win!
The first blood drive is on Thursday, February 2nd from 9am to 1:30pm at the Phoenix Biomedical Campus. Be sure to sign up as soon as possible, as there will be donors and volunteers from other organizations signing up as well. And remember, someone in the U.S. needs blood every two seconds on average. Just ONE donation can save up to THREE lives!
