Abhijit Date, Ph.D., M.Pharm.Sc. is an Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Pharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics track and the Director of the Drug Preformulation, Repurposing and Delivery (D-PReD) research laboratory at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, R. K. Coit College of Pharmacy, University of Arizona.

Lisa E. Davis, PharmD, FCCP, BCPS, BCOP, professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science—specializes in adult medical oncology. Davis’ work includes Early Phase Clinical Trials at the University of Arizona Cancer Center where she is also a member of the Cancer Prevention and Control Program.

Dr. Davis is board certified in pharmacotherapy and oncology pharmacotherapy. Her research interests include drug development, drug resistance, pharmacokinetics, and other factors that influence drug disposition and response.

Assistant Professor, Translational Pharmacogenomics

Hongxu Ding is the new assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice & Science. He finished his undergrad at Tsinghua University in 2013, where he was initially trained as a physicist later and switched to the field of life sciences. He finished his PhD at Columbia University under the instruction of Dr. Andrea Califano in 2018, where he worked on single-cell systems biology. After that, he joined UCSC Genomics Institute as a postdoctoral scholar. Under the supervision of Dr. Joshua Stuart and Dr.

I am interested in the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate the interplay between metabolism, oxidative stress, mitochondrial function, and autophagy during disease pathogenesis. My PhD dissertation focused on the regulation of autophagy in neurons in response to oxidative and metabolic stress.

The Director of the poison center, overseeing operations and personnel, is Dr. Steven Dudley. Dr. Dudley is a board-certified clinical toxicologist who graduated with a PharmD from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy in 2015, and completed a toxicology fellowship with the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center in 2017. His fellowship focused on the assessment and treatment of patients presenting with pharmacological toxicity, overdose, and venom poisoning. Previously, Steven spent nine years working in retail pharmacy.

Brian L. Erstad, PharmD, MCCM, FCCP, FASHP, is in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science at the College of Pharmacy. He focuses on critical care medicine, including patient safety and outcomes, and conducts much of his research at the Banner-University Medical Center, Tucson. He served on the FDA, Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committee member from 2011-2015 and will serve as President of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy from 2019-2020.

The Futscher lab’s primary research focus is cancer epigenetics. We use comprehensive genomic approaches to investigate the epigenomic dysfunction that drives human cancer. The use of genome-wide approaches guarantees the capture of all of the information regarding epigenetic change in human cancer.

James Galligan, PhD, associate professor, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology—studies the link between cellular metabolism, environmental genetics and disease etiology. Keenly interested in post-translational modifications, his research focuses on reactive metabolites deleterious cell health. Current work centers on histone modifications derived from cell metabolism in diabetes and cancer.

Tyler Gallo, PharmD serves as assistant professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science and is cross-appointed in the Division of Clinical Data Analytics and Decision Support at the COLLEGE OF MEDICINE - PHOENIX. Dr. Gallo teaches quality improvement and drug literature evaluation. His research publications and poster presentations address health informatics, medication safety, mobile health QT interval measurement, heparin-induced thrombocytopenia, and adverse drug events.
