Dr. Marjanne Magana obtained her doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Arizona. She joined the Medication Management Center as a pharmacy intern during her fourth year in pharmacy school and continued on as a pharmacist upon graduation and licensure in 2012. She is inspired by the personal interaction she has with patients while discussing chronic disease management and providing other meaningful medication therapy services.
Her passion for patient interaction and interest in pharmacy began with her first full-time job as a pharmacy technician at a hospital clinic in Columbia, Missouri. While working at the clinic, she received valuable on-the-job training and gained certification as a pharmacy technician. She was a Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician for five years before becoming a pharmacy intern and has experience in both retail and hospital settings.
Prior to deciding on a career as a pharmacist, she followed her love for the outdoors and desire to help people. In addition to her PharmD, Dr. Magana holds a bachelor of science degree in fisheries and wildlife from the University of Missouri Columbia. This led to a diverse work history including positions as an emergency medical technician at SeaWorld- San Antonio and as a natural resources specialist with the Arizona Department of Transportation.
She stays connected to her wildlife roots by conducting bird point counts every spring for the Tucson Audubon Society. She enjoys exploring national parks with her husband, Fred, and spending time with their Labrador retrievers, Terra and Roxy. Her favorite activities involve anything outdoors, whether it be running, biking, hiking/backpacking, or camping.
