Cherrington named director of graduate studies

Nathan Cherrington, associate professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, will become director of graduate studies in the College of Pharmacy on November 28, replacing Associate Dean A. Jay Gandolfi in this role.

Hurley receives Nucleic Acids Award

Professor Laurence Hurley has received the Nucleic Acids Award for his work establishing G-quadruplexes as a new class of molecular targets. The award was presented at Queens' College, Cambridge.

Long-time philanthropist Stanley M. Reinhaus of Tucson received the first Mortar & Pestle Award from the College of Pharmacy during a recognition brunch for donors held Nov. 6.

Lau and team receive $1.1 million to hunt for risk biomarkers in type 2 diabetes

Serrine Lau, professor and director of the Southwest Environmental Health Sciences Center, serves as the lead principal investigator for the UA and a co-investigator on a new grant from the National Institutes of Health for diabetes research.
