Rose Martin, PharmD
Class of 2007

“Pharmacy is a profession where I can practice what I am good at, which is my interest in health in addition to my love of working with people,” says Rose Martin.
The Las Vegas, Nev., native born to Chinese parents says pharmacy allowed her to integrate a will to help people with her training in the sciences. Martin received a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles in June 2003 and a PharmD from The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy in May 2007.
She says she chose UA because of smaller class sizes than other universities and the strength of student organizations and community involvement at UA.
“I enjoy knowing my patients on a one-on-one basis and knowing that I can help them with their health conditions, specifically with their medication regimens,” she says.
Martin fell in love with the COP Medication Therapy management Center during one of her fourth-year rotations. Since graduating she continues to work there part time and also work part time in a community pharmacy setting.
“I enjoy the clinical aspect of pharmacy, however my passion lies in working directly with patients," she says.
When she’s not working, Martin helps her husband since May 2006, Patrick Martin, at the karate dojo school he started in October 2004.
“We met on the USA National Karate team,” Martin says, adding, “I enjoy passing along the confidence I’ve gained from karate to young and teenage girls at the dojo.”
